Once again Andy Ankers gives us his 'Nature Notes' for March 2018. We are reminded of these words from Psalm 96.11-12: "Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy."

On Ash Wednesday the season of Lent begins. Join us for a 'Lent Lunch' every Wednesday from 14th February!
Every Lent we enjoy a weekly 'Lent lunch' at the Church Hall, Elton between 12noon and 1.30pm. This will take place on a Wednesday each week and all proceeds will be donated to support the work of Christian Aid.

Our new style monthly 'service' at the Church Hall, Elton was really enjoyable this month with plenty of hands on activities but time to reflect and enjoy the company of other regular and new members of our church community too!

Standing room only for another memorable Nativity and Blessing of the Crib service on Christmas Eve 2017!
It was really fantastic to see over 150 people of all ages join us for our annual Christmas Eve Nativity and Blessing of the Crib service - it was literally standing room only!

Christmas carol services by candlelight enjoyed across our villages once again this year!

Another night to remember at our Christmas concert with the City of Chester Brass Band!
Once again a packed out St. James', Ince hosted a wonderful concert of Christmas music with the City of Chester Brass Band. This annual concert is a must see event for many and 2017 was no exception!

Parish comes together for Remembrance Sunday 2017
Services were held at St. James, Ince and at the war memorial in the churchyard of St. Mary's, Thornton-le-Moors as our villages came together to remember the fallen on Remembrance Sunday.

Messy Church starts the new term with a fun-filled and action packed morning!
Our growing Messy Church group have started the Autumn 2017 term learning about the faith of a Roman centurion in a morning filled with stories, craft, singing and a generally wonderful time!

Teddy Bears' Picnic is a great success with more 'Supertots' in attendance than ever before!
Our regular 'Supertots' group started the new term with a fabulous 'Teddy Bears' Picnic' which saw more attending than ever before, including a guest appearance from a super sized bear!

Memorial to Private George Ellis re-dedicated at St. James', Ince
Members of our congregation, the local community and further afield joined together to re-dedicate memorial to former villager who died at the 'Battle of Passchendaele' 100 years ago this August.

Passchendaele memorial restoration project gathers pace with help from local groups and supporters!
The Western Front Association Merseyside Branch visited Ypres last week as part of the commemorations to mark the start of the Battle of Passchendaele. Read about their visit to the cemetery where Private George Ellis is buried in this article.
