At our special Advent Sunday service on Sunday 27th November, members of the congregation were given the opportunity to take away a small book of favourite Bible verses or '52 thoughts', one for each week of the year.

At our special Advent Sunday service on Sunday 27th November with Bishop Keith, members of the congregation were given the opportunity to take away a small book of favourite Bible verses or '52 thoughts', one for each week of the year.

The book contains personal accounts of why a particular verse of scripture is significant to the author. The key word there is 'personal' since what is being offered isn't an academic or scholarly account but a more individual and heartfelt approach. The purpose is to encourage one another in sharing the power of a word of scripture in a person's own faith experience.

Acts of Remembrance have taken place in each of the villages in our Parish of Thornton-le-Moors with Ince and Elton on this most significant Remembrance Sunday, the centenary of the signing of the Armistice in 1918.
