History of Elton Methodist Church online

Anglicans and Methodists formed a formal partnership in our area in 2010. Read a short history of Methodism and Elton Methodist Church online now.

In 2010 our parish became an 'Anglican and Methodist Partnership', uniting the two congregations in worship at the parish church of St. James', Ince. Methodism in Cheshire can be traced back for over 200 years and in Elton itself, a small Methodist chapel on Ince Lane celebrated its 150th anniversary in 1995.

We've now added a small section to our website, compiled by our organist Peter Allan, regarding the history Methodism and Elton Methodist Church in our community. Together with the historical introductions to both St. James', Ince and St. Mary, Thornton-le-Moors, this further illustrates the long and varied traditions of Christian worship and faith that have been so important to people down the ages in this community.

Please do take a look at the the article from Peter in the 'About us' / History section of the website.
