Following several months of preparation and planning, the Parish of Thornton-le-Moors with Ince and Elton, an ecumenical partnership of Anglicans and Methodists in north west Cheshire have launched a new parish website. The site was officially 'unveiled' at a special celebration service on Sunday 28th August, led by the Bishop of Birkenhead, the Rt. Revd. Keith Sinclair. The service, held at St. James', Ince saw a full congregation meet for worship to celebrate the conclusion of the second annual parish Holiday Club, a baptism using 'total immersion' (believed to be the first time ever within the walls of the building which dates back to the 15th century) and a confirmation all in one!
Commenting, local Vicar, the Revd Dr Ruth Ackroyd said;
'Our service on Sunday was a fantastic launch-pad for our new Parish website. It was wonderful to welcome so many friends and neighbours to our special celebration service with Bishop Keith and to see our church full to the brim with happy faces. A small team, under the expert eye of University of Chester student, Christopher Wilkinson, have worked hard over the last few months to bring our parish into the 'digital age' with this new website, building on our existing online presence via Facebook.
We hope to expand and build on the content within the site over time and really want it to become a community resource where people can find out who we are, what we are, where we are and also delve a little deeper into our fascinating local history as a small group of villages in this part of Cheshire. People will be able to find details of all our regular activities and services - from 'Knit &Natter' and 'Mums and Tots' through to worship for all ages and interests throughout the month.
Our vision is to share God's love in the community and we hope and pray that through this new digital tool we'll be able to reach out to many more people in an exciting and engaging way. Please do visit our site and also check out our Facebook page for all the latest developments.'
